6-foot-6 forward Mikal Bridges missed making his first NBA All-Defense team by 24 votes… as a guard.
Gotta think he would have made the cut if he were voted on as a forward, you know, the position that he plays.
(Noodles, Inspector Go Go Gadget, String Bean, Brittle, Praying Mantis)
Position: Small Forward ▪ Shoots: Right
6-6, 209lb (198cm, 94kg)
Born: August 30, 1996 (Age: 24-290d) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
There you have it.
NOTE: His position, small forward.
SIDE NOTE: Who the fuck is bullshitting out these nicknames. Not one person is calling him String Bean. Kals.
By the voting standards, there are two guards, two forwards and a center.
Mikal started all 72 games this season, all but six of which were alongside both GUARD Chris Paul and GUARD Devin Booker. So that’s 66 games at forward.
Well what position did he play in the other six games, not that it matters?
Booker missed four games in January in which Mikal started with Cam Johnson and Jae Crowder. So I guess, I guess you could make the case that he started at “guard” in those games. The next was a game that CP3 missed in which Mikal started with 6-foot-3 POINT GUARD E’Twaun Moore. So that’s 67 games at forward. The sixth was the meaningless 72nd game of the season which he started with Cam Payne and Jevon Carter, both 6-foot-1 GUARDS.
So Mikal Bridges started 68-of-72 games at forward, yet he gets thrown in with the guards for all-defense voting.
Whatever. I’m pissed for him.
Kawai Leonard makes second team all-defense after missing more than a quarter of the season. What a joke.
