AEW All Out – Recap and Review

Buy-In

Joey Janela w/ Sony Kiss def. Serpentico w/ Luther

Joey picked up the win in about 10 minutes over Serpentico. Some offense for Serpentico but in the end, Joey picked up the win with a flying elbow. Match rating: 5.9/10

Private Party def. Dark Order

Honestly they gave the Dark Order (Reynolds and Silver) a ton of offense. There were a few false finishes where I thought they’d pick up the win over Private Party. In the end, Private Party executed a quick counter and hit their finisher “Gin and Juice”. Fun tag team match. Match rating: 6.5/10

Main Card

Big Swole Def. Britt Baker in a Tooth and Nail Match

I really wanted Britt to win. She should be the face of this division, but she is coming off a big injury. Fun and funny match. Ended with Big Swole numbing Britt’s leg and putting her to sleep with anesthesia. Match rating: 6.2/10

The Young Bucks def. Jurassic Express

Are we getting the Elite to turn heel? God damnit I hope so. Kenny looks like he’ll turn heel tonight, and the Young Bucks definitely had heel qualities in this match.

Super kick to Marco Stunt outside the ring, power bomb on the outside of the wing, double super kick and BTE trigger for the win. Jurassic Express was great too with some really innovative, offensive moves, but not enough for the win. Match rating: 8.7/10

Casino Battle Royale

1st group (Clubs) – Trent, Christopher Daniels, Jake Hager, The Blade, Ray Fenix

2nd group (Diamonds) – Frankie Kazarian, Will Hobbs, Chuck Taylor, Santana and Ortiz

3rd group (Hearts) – Billy Gunn, Penta El Zero, Brian Cage, Ricky Starks, Darby Allin

4th group (Spades)- Shawn Spears, Eddie Kingston, Butcher, Sony Kiss, Lance Archer

Joker – Matt Sydal

Eliminations:

Hobbs – 1 (Blade)

Hager – 1 (Daniels)

Cage – 4 (Gunn, Sony, Kazarian, Darby with tacks)

Darby – 2 (Fenix, Starks)

Ortiz – 1 (Chuck Taylor)

Sony – 1 (Hager)

Trent – 1 (Santana)

Lance – 5 (Trent, Ortiz, Hobbs, Eddie and Cage)

Kazarian – 1 (Penta)

Kingston – 1 (Sydal)

Sydal – 2 (Spears and Butcher)

This was a fun battle Royale, but some botches, outside mistakes and dangerous moves were what stood out to me.

Not sure who Matt Sydal is, but you can’t have a debut worse than him with that botch from the top rope. I was really hoping for Rusev 😦

Darby was eliminated by Starks and Cage (outside interference) and then was thrown outside the ring in a body bag filled with tacks.

What really stood out to me was Hobbs who put on a hell of show in the Royale.

The Murderhawk ended as the last man in the ring, earning himself a future title shot. Match rating: 7.1/10

Matt Hardy def. Sammy Guevera Broken Rules Match

This was a scary and terrible match. I went into it very excited, but Matt Hardy 1,000% got injured and it sucked the life out of the PPV.

They did a table spot on the concourse of the Jaguars NFL stadium. Sammy speared Matt Hardy from an elevated surface through a table. Only thing is, there was no padding and Hardy hit his head on the concrete. They stopped the match and then weirdly started it up, only for it to end instantly. Match rating: 0/10

AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida def. NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa

I think this was a good match? Honestly I kept checking social media for things about Matt Hardy and WWE marks arguing about the Young Bucks. Shida picked up the win with her knee strike finisher. Match rating: 6.5/10

Natural Nightmares, Matt Cardona and Scorpio Sky def. The Dark Order

I wrote this on my recent dynamite recap, but I hate 8 man tag matches. Too much happens and you can’t keep up with everything. There were definitely some cool spots in this match, but I prefer traditional tag matches.

This match did an awesome job with making Brodie Lee the leader and badass that he is. In the end, Colt Cabana did not listen to Mr. Brodie Lee’s orders, costing him the match with a roll up. Match rating: 6.5/10

I love JR, but I’m worried he’s going to cause this company problems. Last Wednesday, he mentioned the lack of women’s division on TNT. Tonight, he says “Did Anna Jay have a wardrobe malfunction? I certainly hope so.” Not great in 2020 JR. Here’s Anna Jay for reference:

FTR with Tully Blanchard def. Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page for the AEW Tag Team Championship

This was a good match but I wasn’t a fan of the ending. Good offense and psychology throughout the match. Loved how FTR targeted Hangman’s head and Kenny’s knee.

This should lead to a breakup between Kenny and Hangman. After the match, Kenny stormed off without Hangman and left the building. Match rating: 7.6/10

Orange Cassidy def. Chris Jericho in Mimosa Mayhem Match

Pretty fun match. Wasn’t their best of the three, but it had its moments. Ending with an awesome Superman punch into the mimosa bath, Orange Cassidy picked up the win. Match rating: 7.9/10

MJF vs. Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship

Good title match here. The stipulation of the match was that Mox could not use his finisher “Paradigm Shift”. During the match, Mox cut up MJF and drew blood, while MJF targeted Mox’s arm.

At the end of the match, Wardlow interrupted and tried to throw MJF his diamond ring. When the ref was distracted, Mox hit the Paradigm Shift. Match rating: 8.1/10

Thanks for reading. I’ll see you Wednesday for Dymamite!
