Indians starting pitcher Triston McKenzie made his debut on Saturday and made the Tigers look quite pedestrian. Dude sat 94-96 mph on his fastball, good changeup at 87-88 mph and a solid curveball. He was great. Ten strikeouts (nine with fastball), two hits and a walk. At a hefty 165 pounds, the kid is a beast. People call him Sticks, but I’m sticking with TMac because he was dunkin’ all over hitters like Shawn Bradley.
The one mistake he made was leaving an off-speed pitch up to Castro that got hit into The Corner Bar. Solo shot. Nothing hurt. Stan Lee who cares.
When Detroit prospects make their debuts they immediately become the club’s best pitcher. McKenzie is just trying to crack the rotation. It’s an embarrassment of riches. I’m glad the offense put it together in the sixth and got the kid a couple of runs. He pitched way to well to be pinned with the loss. Matt Boyd did too, but fuck Matt Boyd. Amirite?
Pretty cool moment on the home broadcast. Top prospect Nolan Jones took in McKenzie’s first start from the parking garage on the other side of Doby Ave. Shoutout to Progressive Flo, that bad bitch.
Oh, and if you’re keeping track at home, Miguel Cabrera was 0-for-4 with 3K’s. He’s now slashing .176/.269/.319 and is making $30million this year, next year, 2022 and 2023.
Rubber match tomorrow afternoon. Carrasco vs. (insert bum Tiger’s pitcher). Roll over and let me pet that belly.
