Weird game. Nick Castellanos hit 2 home runs in his first two at bats and that was it until the Tigers made a 2 out rally in the 6th.
Detroit got lucky when Castellanos dropped a fly ball that allowed 3 runs to score in the bottom of the 6th. The very next inning the Reds scored one run of Joe Jimenez and that was it. I hate pitching a closer in a non closing situation, never works. We almost stole this game but we didn’t have it, but, we battled and kept it close and almost won. I think we would have won if the game was 9 innings but, new rule in baseball this season is that DH’s are 7 innings. LAME. I think Game 2 starts in 45 minutes and if we find a way to split this DH that would so huge. We have to find ways to win 3 game series.
2 thoughts-
1- Home plate umpire, Larry Vanolver, was terrible today. Was calling strikes that were a foot off the plate and killed some of the Tigers rallies.
2- Tyler Alexander had one of the best bullpen performances of all time. I think he should be a starter. Rony Garcia isn’t getting the job done, I know he’s young but, not good. Alexander tied the American League record with 9 strikeouts in a two. He was dealing. He ended up with 10 in 3.2 innings. That stuff doesn’t happen everyday.

Let’s win Game 2. Daniel Norris takes the bump vs the metal midget, Trevor Bauer. We need to score early and throw strikes. Some timely hits would be appreciated.
