It has been roughly 140 days since the NBA announced the suspension of the regular season, but nevertheless, we took the boredom like champs and we can finally say BASKETBALL IS BACK! That’s right, just when we thought the there was no hope in sight for the return of our beloved sports, the NBA impressively and successfully pulled off being able to return to play and they did not disappoint with their opening scheduled lineup.
The NBA restart, opened up with the Jazz taking on the a limited Zion Williamson and the Pelicans that would end up being an unexpected nail-biter. What looked like to be the Pelicans game to win, as they headed into halftime with a hot start leading 60-48, would eventually fall short as they would lose 106-104. It has been no secret that this year will obviously be different and with COVID having players coming in and out of the rotations, it was the help from lesser known role players such as Jordan Clarkson (23 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists) and forward Royce O’Neale (12 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists) that would put on a show to get the dub.
Switching gears to prime time, the final meeting between the two LA teams came down to another thrilling end as the Lakers would sneak by Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers winning 103-101. Even with Lebron only having 16 points, the Lakers were still able to win, with Anthony Davis picking up his slack going 34, 8, and 4. With this, the Battle of LA would end in a series tie of 2-2.
Though my beloved Cavaliers were snubbed of being one of the 22 teams playing this season, man does it feel great to not only have basketball, but sports back in general.
