Instant reaction to this pick was WHY?
We just drafted D’Andre Swift, why do we need another RB?
I can’t answer that question BUT I did some reading and J-dawg is a baller. Every article I read people were saying “stop sleeping on Jason Huntley” “Can Jason Huntley be the 49ers next secret gem”
He has VERY fast. He ran the fastest 40 yard dash at the combine for all running backs at a 4.37 and he lead the country in broken tackles. He was on a 2-10 college team so he was not on national tv much and didnt get a lot of exposure but started rising on draft boards this past week. This is starting to seem like a pick that the Lions didn’t want someone else to snag up before our next pick.
Huntley is versatile and can play mutiple postions for the Lions and that was too intriguing to pass up on. He can play in the slot, he can play running back while D’Andre Swift plays the slot. Huntley also took 5 kickoffs to the house last season. Dude can run. We’re giving Matthew a lot of weapons and I love it. It is gong to be fun to watch.
Just because some draft people had Jason going in the 7th round and we drafted him in the 5th doesn’ mean Bob Quinn dropped the ball. Huntley is an athlete and we all know the Lions need as many athletes as possible.
